A Madrid Living Room That Balances Bold Color and Classic Charm

When Morgan moved from the States to Madrid, she arrived to a brand new apartment with a few design puzzles to solve. Her new apartment was bright and full of potential, with soaring ceilings, a charming fireplace, and light streaming through arched windows. But the open-plan layout came with challenges: a deep-set nook wrapped in built-ins, a dining area beside the kitchen’s small window, and a long room that needed a clear rhythm.

“I wanted the space to feel cozy, homey, and creative — not overdesigned,” Morgan shared. “Every piece in my home should have a story.”

From Bright to Bold: Finding the Right Palette

Morgan’s design journey began with two possible directions. Nicolle first introduced “Lively Pop,” a playful, airy concept full of blush, butter yellow, and soft blue. It captured Morgan’s appreciation for cheerful spaces — but she quickly realized she wanted something richer.

“I think I lean more toward jewel tones,” Morgan wrote to Nicolle, “something with greens, reds, and maybe a lighter hue to balance it out — not too moody, though.”

Nicolle took note and reimagined the design through “Oasis Jewels” — a palette that brought in olive green, blush, ochre, and rust, grounded by warm wood and brass details. It struck the perfect balance between energy and sophistication.

“Oasis Jewels combines rich jewel tones with plush textures and sculptural forms to create a luxurious yet inviting atmosphere,” Nicolle explained. “It’s elegant but still approachable — a space meant to be lived in.”

A Seamless Flow Between Living, Dining, and Reading

The apartment’s open layout became an opportunity to tell one visual story across three distinct zones — living, dining, and reading — each with its own personality yet united by tone and texture.

At the center, a deep green sectional anchors the living room, setting a grounded tone. Blush and mustard pillows add brightness and contrast, while a geometric area rug defines the space without overwhelming it.

“The deep green sofa serves as the anchor,” Nicolle wrote in her concept brief. “It creates a sense of structure and comfort, perfect for everyday relaxation or hosting friends.”

Across from it, two curved pink swivel chairs echo the room’s architectural softness, while a black round coffee table adds a crisp, modern edge.

The dining area continues this conversation — rounded forms, warm wood finishes, and subtle brass accents create a natural flow between zones. A sculptural chandelier ties it together, illuminating a long wood table surrounded by rust-colored chairs that feel both timeless and contemporary.

And in the arched window nook, Nicolle added a touch of whimsy with a gold velvet loveseat, turning the once-unused corner into a cozy reading spot.

“That nook was a defining feature of the apartment,” Nicolle said. “We wanted it to feel intentional — not like leftover space.”

Bringing the Vision to Life in 3D

When the layout and palette were finalized, Nicolle revealed the 3D renderings — Seeded’s signature step that lets clients visualize their future space before buying a single piece.

The 3D view showcased the layered materials and subtle interplay of light: brass gleaming under the arched windows, plush velvet catching the afternoon sun, and the deep green sofa grounding the entire composition.

“The large arched windows not only flood the room with natural light but also highlight the ceiling details,” Nicolle noted. “We kept the palette rich but bright enough to let the architecture shine.”

For Morgan, seeing the space come alive in 3D confirmed everything — the layout worked, the flow felt natural, and the mood reflected her personality perfectly.

A Home That Feels Like Her

When the final design arrived, the transformation was complete — a once-empty apartment now brimming with warmth, art, and life. Nicolle’s design captured everything Morgan envisioned: a space layered with texture and color but still effortlessly livable.

“It feels like a reflection of me,” Morgan said. “Bright, interesting, and grounded.”

Each piece — from the curved velvet chairs to the sculptural dining table — was chosen not to follow a trend, but to tell a story. The result is a living room that feels both distinctly Madrid and entirely Morgan — timeless, personal, and full of character.
