“I wasn’t sold on the circular table. The light fixture had to go. And it was the first room guests saw when they walked in.”

That’s where Lindsey was when she reached out to Seeded. With a few key pieces she wanted to keep—and a goal to refresh the space without overspending—Lindsey needed a design plan that would make a big impact on a manageable budget.

What she did like: her Saarinen-style dining chairs (which she planned to reupholster) and the existing bar cabinet. What she didn’t? The oversized chandelier and a layout that lacked personality.

A Warm, California-Coastal Foundation

Enter Nicolle, her Seeded designer. Using Lindsey’s style profile and goals, Nicolle built a design foundation around California-Coastal warmth with a Mid-Century edge. The initial idea board set the tone: neutral layers, organic textures, and materials that feel lived-in, yet elevated.

Personalized and Pulled Together

From there, Nicolle shared two design directions that wove in Lindsey’s existing pieces and infused the space with new life. She introduced soft textures like sand-toned velvet, warm wood finishes, and a geometric rug for subtle pattern play. An oversized mirror above the bar added depth, while terracotta drapes grounded the space with color and warmth.

Key updates included:

  • Replacing the round table with a natural wood rectangular version to anchor the room
  • Upgrading to a sleek, modern chandelier for better lighting and visual balance
  • Creating a more open, welcoming flow from the front door through the dining area
  • Styling the bar with curated décor touches—think vinyls, a table lamp, and greenery

Final Thoughts

What began as a transitional, underwhelming room is now a thoughtfully designed, mid-century haven. Lindsey’s dining space doesn’t just look beautiful—it feels like her. Warm, modern, and ready for both weeknight dinners and impromptu gatherings.

“I just felt really understood,” she told us. “And it all came together so seamlessly.”
